I haven’t done a weight loss update in a while, mostly because I’ve been riding on the struggle bus since the beginning of the year. I have lost (and found) the same 5 lbs about 6 times since 2018 began. I’m on the “lost” end of the spectrum this week which is FABULOUS.
Three weeks ago I started Weight Watchers. I know I said fad diets are a NO NO, but I don’t really see this as a “fad diet”, so to say. I can still eat whatever I want. The point system just makes, say, Grilled chicken and veggies more appealing than a fried chicken sandwich. Because one is worth zero points and the other uses more than half of my daily allotted points in one shot. That’s what Weight Watchers is all about, just picking the healthier option. I signed up for a three-month promo, and plan to go back to my normal healthy eating habits when I am done. Also, my work pays for my membership, so why not give it a try?
So far, so good. I’m three weeks in, and 5.5 lbs down. I am officially in a new “weight territory” as I’m the lowest I have been since my weight loss journey began! That is something to be excited about! I have made a plan to lose one pound a week until my honeymoon in November. That will put me exactly inside my healthy BMI of 24.9, and 145 lbs. Not only am I doing this because we are going to start trying for a baby again in November, but because I bought a two-piece bathing suit… and I WILL wear it in Mexico! If I don’t hit my goal every week, that’s okay! As long as I am making the effort and giving it my all.
My goal of one pound a week will bring me down another 11 lbs by the wedding. That will put me around 165, which is a number I haven’t seen on the scale in about 9 years. I am over the moon excited to be as close to that number as I am! That means I am getting closer and closer to a healthier version of myself every single day.
I put a few of my “before” pictures next to some “during” photo’s I took this morning. I wasn’t expecting to see any change at all, but to my surprise there is at least a slight difference! Especially on my [least] favorite angle… THE BACK ROLLS. For me, seeing pictures like this is HUGE motivation to keep going in the right direction. And guess what? Even with my slip up’s of Pizza, and Chinese food, I am STILL losing weight. Because being healthy is about balance, not perfection.
Some of the changes I plan to make in the next coming months is to incorporate exercise back into my routine. I have REALLY been slacking in that department, and I know getting back into it will be huge. I have 11 weeks until my wedding, and plan to start this workout this week. They tailor the exercises to your needs, or you can create your own. I plan to do this Monday through Friday, and then do something fun on the weekends like Kickboxing or Zumba. I will be interested to see the changes at the end, because it focuses more on toning and defining! Also, if Spring EVER decides to join us, I look forward to nature walks and hiking. I’m also going to focus on making sure I get those 10K steps in every single day!
*What do you guys do to keep yourselves motivated? What are your favorite healthy snacks and meals? One of my favorites right now is mixed fruit with chia seeds, cocoa nibs, and light cool whip!
